Program Overview

The backbone of this program is a simulation game whereby your child will learn by experiencing first-hand, how their financial decisions will eventually lead to their wealth and happiness.

Starting at age 20 with no money to their name, the player has to decide if they want to work first to earn money or take a loan to study first. At the same time, they have to make decisions on their basic life choices, food, transport, entertainment and property.

The player has to make different financial decision until the age of 50. They can see how much wealth they have accumulated and the happiness score. There will be a ranking table for all the players based on happiness score. The player can see how they rank relative to the rest of the players at the end of the game.

As the player finish their tertiary education, they are able to make better income. This is also the juncture whereby they have to make more complex financial decisions. Should I pay down the loan first? Should I start investing? Or should I start accumulating my happiness score?

This game is about who has the highest happiness score at the end. So the question is, should I try to acquire happiness score as quickly as possible, at higher expense, or, let the wealth grow first before acquiring happiness score?

Besides working, the player can use investments to accumulate wealth. They can invest in stocks to get capital gain or dividend yields.

They can also invest in properties to accumulate wealth! So which way works best?

Besides better lifestyle, happiness index can also be acquired via luxury goods.

Happiness can also be acquired by achieving financial freedom, whereby passive income is higher than total spending. So which way is the best to acquire happiness?

There will be different events every year which will affect the wealth and happiness score. Just like real life, luck plays a role too!

As you can see from the illustration above, this game simulates some of the real-life decisions that the player has to go through eventually. By playing this game, the player gets a “rehearsal” and will be better prepared when the real-life situation happens!

The program will come with an instructional video and write up so that the player can start to play the game immediately without any lessons. (Watch preview):

There will be a debrief video to go through the learning points. Is best that the debrief video is done with an adult so that there can be constructive discussions for the player.
